Chai Tea

Chai Tea

Serves 4, Time: 7 minutes

When you have freshly made tea masala or you made some early in the year and you have some left over for an afternoon tea, then what not make a few cups of Chai Tea for you and your friends for that afternoon fix!

For as long as I can remember I have drank Indian chai tea first thing in the morning. My parents, my parents parents, my aunts, my uncles, my friends, (even some foes) were accustomed to chai tea in the morning first thing in the morning and shared amongst everybody. Some days I can skip eating breakfast and substitute it for chai and be ready to take on the day! There is something about the combination and blend of the spices that is sure to wake you up!

Chai Tea

Ingredients

  • 2 cups full fat milk

  • 3-4 tsp tea leaves
  • 1/2 tbs sugar

Method

  1. In a deep pot mix milk, water, tea leaves, sugar, tea masala and bring to a boil
  2. Once boiled simmer for 2 minutes
  3. Strain into a thermos to keep warm if drinking later or strain straight into teacups for immediate drinking.
  4. Enjoy for breakfast or afternoon tea with biscuits and tea sandwiches!
